Join our small group classes to learn with experienced, qualified teachers who will guide and encourage you from absolute beginner level as far as you want to go. In-person classes in Bishops Stortford and Enfield are for a maximum of 8 students so you get the best of individual attention and the fun of learning with others.
This course will take you from stunned silence to being able to navigate your way through day-to-day life. You will be able to introduce yourself and get to know the people you meet. You will be able to understand travel and directions, order food and arrange accommodation. With our friendly, supportive teachers you will build your communication – mostly listening and speaking at this level. You will also use a textbook in the lessons, and for your self-study between lessons, so you always have something to refer back to.
No previous knowledge is required. It is suitable for complete beginners as well as people who have spent some time on apps like Duolingo.

Expand your ability to talk and understand Portuguese in this second level class which is taught mostly in Portuguese. You will be able to make plans, order in a restaurant, describe your home, clothes and talk about things in the past. You will be expressing preferences and opinions, talking about shopping, clothing and asking for permission or favours. Yes, you will be beginning to interact successfully and enjoyably in a wide range of settings and have a growing understanding of Portuguese culture.
This course is designed for students who have had one year’s lessons or equivalent. You should be able to hold a simple conversation on familiar everyday topics. Confidence and fluency are not expected!

Continue to improve your Portuguese, especially speaking and reading. You will appreciate wider aspects of Portuguese grammar and be reading and watching more advanced films and stories. The course will be held in Portuguese. You will use a textbook and authentic material to extend your knowledge of the language and culture. You will also do some written work in your self-study time.
Students should have complete the equivalent of two years of courses or equivalent. You should be able to take part in simple exhanges in everyday professional or personal life with a sympathetic native speaker
